Since its creation, F. Chauvenet has reflected its attachment to and respect for the Burgundian terroir in the making of its wines.
Deep color with ruby reflections. Intense evoking blackcurrant and other small red or black fruits, animal notes of musk and fur, and often liquorice when the wine has matured. This wine impresses with its firm structure, velvety tannins and delicate texture. It has all the hallmarks of a great Bourgogne: full-bodied, powerful, rich and fleshy.
Its velvety tannins make it an interesting wine for game, whether furry or feathered, especially when the wine is more evolved. It also goes marvellously with rib steak and braised lamb. Regarding the cheeses, it goes well with all strong cheeses made from cow's milk.
Serve from 15 to 16 °C.
Gevrey-Chambertin wines can be enjoyed from 3 to 10 years old.
100% Pinot Noir.
Grapes are manually harvested, passed over a sorting table, crushed, de-stemmed and then left to ferment for about 18 days with 2 punch-downs and 2 pump-overs per day and then matured for about 18 months.
Village appellation. The Gevrey-Chambertin appellation is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits. It is one of the largest wine-growing villages in Burgundy with 410 hectares of vineyards, 81 hectares of which are classified as Premier Cru. The appellation is harvested from the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon. Only red wines made from Pinot Noir are produced in this vineyard.
